Library automation solutions provider Ex Libris Group, Israel, has announced that the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign library has selected the Primo discovery and delivery solution from Ex Libris. With this acquisition, the University Library joins a Primo community of 300 local and regional libraries in North America.
Combined with the Primo Central Index, which connects libraries to hundreds of millions of scholarly e‑resources, Primo enables users to search the entire spectrum of a library's collections - both e-resources and physical holdings - through a single point of access, and to receive a single, relevance-ranked list of results.
The library at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign holds over 12 million volumes, more than 90,000 serial titles, and over nine million manuscripts, maps, slides, audio tapes, microforms, videotapes, laser discs, and other non-print material. The University Library is ranked highly nationally and globally, and its collections and services are used heavily by students, faculty, and visiting scholars. More than one million items are circulated annually, and many more are used on-site and from virtually anywhere in the world.
