New Bangor University project to improve accountability in academic publishing -

A new Bangor University project is set to launch at the ESAI Environ conference in Dublin on February 28, 2014.

The project, called Journalysis, received generous funding from the Higher Education Funding Council for Wales (HEFCW) through the Management Centre last year. Journalysis aims to provide researchers with an Open Access, independent platform to review and rate their experiences with academic journals and publishers: essentially a Trip Advisor for academic publishing.

Journalysis will be a place to share experiences, both positive and negative, and to find useful metrics about a huge variety of different journals in all areas of research (including impact factors, average time to publication, average time in review etc.) that will allow authors to find the ideal home for their next manuscript submission.

The soft launch will be a period of collating reviews of authors' experiences with journals. Interested parties may visit the Journalysis website, follow (@journalysis) or tweet thoughts/experiences (#journalysis) on Twitter, and like their Facbook page.
