The American Chemical Society (ACS) has invited students, faculty and interested members of the public to ACS on Campus, a free day of seminars on February 14 and 15. The seminars will explore ethics and copyright in scholarly publishing, resume writing, careers in chemistry and work/life balance challenges for graduate students.
ACS on Campus will be hosted at the University of California, San Diego, in the Natural Sciences Building Auditorium. The events are free, but registration is required. To register, go to http://pubs.acs.org/page/acsoc/rsvp/ucsd.html.
ACS on Campus is a Library Relations initiative begun in 2010 to raise the profile of the campus science/chemistry librarian through a series of campus events. Since then, it has become the Society’s cross-divisional campus outreach programme bringing resources from ACS Publications, Chemical Abstracts Service, Membership & Scientific Advancement and Education to over 20 campuses domestically and internationally. Students participate in seminars on the basics of peer review, ethics in scholarly communications, career building and development and effective use of ACS Web tools like SciFinder, the ACS Network and the Web Editions Platform.
