PEER Consortium to hold conference on effects of manuscript depositing by authors -

The PEER Consortium Partners have announced the PEER End of Project Conference, scheduled for May 29, 2012, at Federation of Enterprises in Belgium Rue Ravenstein 3, B -1000 Brussels. Registration is free and is now open at: http://www.peerproject.eu/peer-end-of-project-conference-29th-may-2012.

Publishing and the Ecology of European Research (PEER), supported by the EC eContentplus programme, has been investigating the effects of the large-scale, systematic depositing of authors’ final peer-reviewed manuscripts (so called Green Open Access or stage-two research output) on reader access, author visibility and journal viability, as well as on the broader ecology of European research. The aim is to shape the evolution of policies in this area. The project is a collaboration between publishers, repositories and the research community including funding bodies, which has run since September 2008 and will conclude with this conference. The conference will present the final results of the PEER project.

Speakers will include representatives from PEER, as well as internationally recognised research experts. Representatives from the publishing, library/repository, funding and research stakeholder communities will participate in a round-table discussion. They will address the evidence gathered by PEER of what the effect of broad and systematic archiving of research outputs in open access repositories might be.
