Technical professional association IEEE, US, has announced dozens of new, revised and reaffirmed standards and standards-development projects. LAN/MAN protection, high-voltage switching and gas-insulated substations are among the technology areas addressed in newly published IEEE standards. Detailed information on the standards and projects recently approved by the IEEE Standards Association (IEEE-SA) Standards Board is available on the IEEE-SA website.
Among the new standards that have been published are: IEEE 802.1Qbf; IEEE C37.30.1; and IEEE C37.122.2. Among the standards-development projects that IEEE-SA approved are: IEEE P802.15.9; IEEE P802.16.1a; IEEE P802.16.1b; and IEEE P802.22b.
IEEE-SA also reaffirmed standards, including IEEE C37.101 2006 – Guide for Generator Ground Protection. The guide is intended to assist protection engineers in applying relays and relaying schemes for protection against stator ground faults on various generator grounding schemes. It has been revised to reflect new stator ground protection principles. IEEE C37.101-2006 is available for purchase at IEEE Standards Store.
The IEEE Standards Association, a globally recognised standards-setting body within IEEE, develops consensus standards through an open process that seeks to engage industry and bring together a broad stakeholder community. IEEE standards set specifications and best practices based on current scientific and technological knowledge. The IEEE-SA has a portfolio of over 900 active standards and more than 500 standards under development. For more information visit the IEEE-SA website.
