The American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP), a 62,000-member organisation dedicated to the health of children, has announced the launch of an app for Android-compatible devices that provides instant mobile access to the entire AAP eBook collection of more than 100 publications for pediatricians.
The AAP eBookstore app for Android devices can be downloaded from the Google Play site at http://tinyurl.com/aapebookandroid. Leading manufacturers of Android-powered mobile devices include HTC, Motorola and Samsung.
Impelsys, AAP's eBooks technology partner and a global leader in providing electronic content delivery solutions, developed the app with Impelsys' award-winning iPublishCentral software.
Impelsys has partnered with AAP to develop the organisation's digital publishing strategy, starting with the launch of a branded eBookstore and later creating an app for iOS-compatible mobile devices, the mobile software for iPad, iPhone and iPod Touch. The newly released Android app extends this strategy to make sure that pediatricians have access to AAP content, regardless of where they are or what device they’re using.
AAP also recently unveiled a new version of its eBookstore (www.aapebooks.org), with a number of performance improvements and an enhanced user interface. The improvements were made specifically with a focus on better accommodating access from mobile devices.
The AAP eBookstore provides libraries, medical schools, hospitals and pediatric offices with instant electronic access to more than 100 renowned AAP publications, including full-text, visuals, data tables and clinical recommendations. With AAP eBooks, users can purchase and download any content from the entire collection of AAP digital titles like Pediatric Clinical Practice Guidelines & Policies, Bright Futures, Pediatric Nutrition Handbook, Red Book Atlas, and Caring For Your Baby And Young Child: Birth To Age 5.
