Publisher Mary Ann Liebert, Inc. has announced that Big Data, the new, open access, peer-reviewed journal, will launch its inaugural issue at the Strata conference in Santa Clara, CA, February 26–28, 2013.
Spearheaded by Editor-in-Chief, Edd Dumbill, principal analyst for O'Reilly Radar, and programme chair for the O'Reilly Strata conference, the journal will address the complicated questions surrounding the powerful and growing field of data discovery and provide the necessary focus to bring together data-driven research and experience in big data from a broad array of disciplines, whether technical, social or industrial. The issue is available free on the Big Data website.
By providing a unique forum for the vast dissemination of world-class data science research that addresses the challenges and opportunities in big data, the journal will bring the field of big data and the skills of the data scientist to a new level of excellence. To ensure the broadest and most timely dissemination of research and experience, Big Data will publish under the Creative Commons Attribution license ("CC-BY").
Big Data will facilitate and support the efforts of researchers, analysts, statisticians, business leaders, and policymakers to improve operations, profitability, and communications within their organisations. Spanning a broad array of disciplines focusing on novel big data technologies, policies, and innovations, the journal will bring together the community to address the challenges and discover new breakthroughs and trends living within this information. The journal will be published in print and online.
