Scientific and technical publisher Woodhead Publishing Limited, UK, has been announced as a contender for the Frankfurt Book Fair Academic & Professional Publisher of the Year award at this year's Independent Publishing Awards.
The judging panel listed Woodhead's consistently strong sales and incomparable knowledge of the field among its reasons for being shortlisted. 'Woodhead Publishing achieved record sales in 2012 for the 12th successive year. It followed substantial growth in many key export territories and across Woodhead's online business. Judges considered it a textbook example of owner-run publishing.
Also shortlisted for the award are Bloomsbury Publishing's Academic and Professional Division, Edward Elgar Publishing and Liverpool University Press. The winners of all 13 awards will be announced at a Gala Dinner during the IPG's Annual Conference on March 7, 2013 at Heythrop Park in Oxfordshire.
