London Book Fair, IPA announce programme details on education conference -

International Publishers Association (IPA) and the London Book Fair (LBF) have announced the programme for the first IPA International Education Conference, a one-day event that will run alongside LBF on April 17, 2013.

The conference, which is the result of a new partnership between the IPA and LBF, has unveiled a line-up of international speakers including a keynote address from Andreas Schleicher, OECD, and talks from Michael Trucano, World Bank and YS Chi, Reed Elsevier.

The conference will seek to look objectively at measures of educational success, the effectiveness of learning resources and learning technologies, and the public policies that have been demonstrated to improve educational outcomes. It will attract an international audience of policy makers, educational publishers and other education content creators including academics.

Confirmed speakers include Andreas Schleicher, Deputy Director, Directorate for Education, OECD; Miha Kovac, Publishers, Mladinska, Slovenia; Michael Trucano, World Bank; Eugenio Severino, formerly Inter-American Development Bank; Andre Tricot, South Pyrenees University for Teachers’ Education; and Maria Langworthy, ITL Research, USA.

The other speakers include Catherine Lucet, Nathan/Editis, France; Francesc Pedro, Chief of Section - Sector Policy Advice and Information and Communication Technology ICT) in Education UNESCO; Graham Taylor, Chair, IPA Educational Publishers Forum; and Hikki Karjalainen, Finland.

The event will be fully managed and operated by Reed Exhibitions in conjunction with the IPA, providing strategic programme and speaker guidance, with four sessions across the day, which will include panel debates and case study presentations. The conference will take place at the Earls Court Conference Centre.
