The London Book Fair, in association with the Publishers Association, has announced that Sara Lloyd, Director of Digital and Communications at Pan Macmillan, will chair the fifth Digital Minds Conference scheduled for April 14, 2013, at The Queen Elizabeth II Conference Centre in Westminster.
Digital Minds – the Future of Publishing Content will explore issues facing publishers within a fully integrated digital environment, including the changing role of the editor, the impact that digital plays on publishing and author brands and branding, and the continued debate over self-publishing and hybrid authors. The conference, sponsored by Jouve, will also discuss key business model trends, means of reader engagement and those emerging markets which content providers must have a handle on.
The conference will deliver an international line-up of speakers to ensure attendees benefit from up-to-the minute information and insight on digital trends from world leaders in digital content creation and provision. Confirmed speakers include: Will Atkinson, Faber & Faber on the year in digital so far; Robert Levine, author of Free Ride, on the changing publishing ecosystems, and its threats and opportunities for traditional content owners; Javier Celaya from Dosdoce, Anna Lewis from Valobo, Henrik Berggren from Readmill and Molly Barton from Penguin Group on Working with Start-ups; John Bond, Whitefox, on self-publishing and the hybrid author; and Blaine Cooke, Poetica, on the changing editorial role.
The conference will build on the success of previous years, appealing to a global demographic with delegates and speakers coming from across the publishing industry and the media more widely. The format will remain fully interactive with live learning, networking, and a continued emphasis on experiential sessions.
