Neil Gaiman to be keynote speaker at LBF Digital Minds Conference 2013 -

The London Book Fair, in association with the Publishers Association, has announced that author Neil Gaiman will give a keynote speech at the fifth Digital Minds Conference on April 14, 2013. Neil Gaiman has become an internationally recognised author brand. For the last decade, his embrace of social media via his blog and Twitter presence as @neilhimself has elevated him to superstar status and nurtured a vast, loyal and vocal online community of readers for his works.

As a writer whose stories cross genres, Gaiman enjoys success across multiple media embodying all of the themes that the Digital Minds Conference will explore in its fifth edition. Delegates will find Neil's perspective on engaging with his audience invaluable and the opportunity of hearing how his familiarity with using social media came about is gold dust for all wannabe online community builders.

Digital Minds – the Future of Publishing Content, sponsored by Jouve and the Copyright Clearance Centre, will deliver an international line-up of speakers to ensure attendees benefit from up-to-the minute information and insight on digital trends from world leaders in digital content creation and provision. Confirmed speakers so far include Will Atkinson, Faber & Faber on the year in digital so far; Robert Levine, author of Free Ride, on the changing publishing ecosystems, and its threats and opportunities for traditional content owners; Javier Celaya from Dosdoce, Anna Lewis from Valobo, Henrik Berggren from Readmill and Molly Barton from Penguin Group on Working with Start-ups; John Bond, Whitefox, on self-publishing and the hybrid author; and Blaine Cooke, Poetica, on the changing editorial role, among others.

The conference will take place before The London Book Fair (14 April 2013) at The Queen Elizabeth II Conference Centre in Westminster. The conference will build on the success of previous years, appealing to a global demographic with delegates and speakers coming from across the publishing industry and the media more widely. The format will remain fully interactive with live learning, networking, and a continued emphasis on experiential sessions.
