Academic publisher Cambridge University Press has reportedly announced the first major restructure of its academic business for more than 20 years. The initiative will see the Press combine its books and journals departments and also create a new 'global' board.
According to Richard Fisher, Managing Director of the new academic board, the restructure also places CUP in a better position in the growing markets of Asia and Latin America.
The new board will be based across Cambridge, New York and Asia. Former Wiley Blackwell vice-president and journal publishing director for health sciences, Elaine Stott, will take the role of director of publishing STM, based in New York. Also in New York will be Simon Ross, Managing Director of journals and overall deputy Managing Director, and Beatrice Rehl, director of publishing for humanities.
Nancy Roberts, director of production and operations, and Steven Chong, director of Asian sales and marketing, are based in Hong Kong and Singapore respectively.
As a result of the restructure, the positions of North American sales and marketing director and European sales and marketing director have been axed, which resulted in one redundancy - Rohan Seery, sales and marketing director EMEA.
