Registration is now open for the Digital Archives Specialist (DAS) courses being offered by ARL and the Society of American Archivists (SAA) at four ARL member libraries through 2013. Dates are being finalised for course offerings at seven additional ARL libraries in 2014.
ARL and SAA have designed a weeklong immersion in four core courses of the DAS programme for ARL library staff to take alongside their peers. Registration is per course - participants are not required to sign up for the whole week but are offered a package discount if they do. The four courses being offered are: Digital Archives and Libraries; Digital Forensics (newly expanded to two days); Digital Curation: Creating an Environment for Success; and Preserving Digital Archives.
The special weeklong offering of the four DAS courses will be held at the University of Illinois at Chicago: September 9–13; University of New Mexico: October 21–25; Ohio State University: November 4–8; and University of California, Los Angeles: December 16–20.
The courses will be offered at seven additional ARL institutions in 2014. Interested parties may visit the ARL website for the list of host institutions.
