Hearst Business Media, a unit of Hearst Corporation, has announced the appointment of Dr. Justin Graham as chief innovation officer, healthcare. The announcement was made by Hearst Business Media President Richard P. Malloch and Gregory Dorn, MD, MPH, executive vice president and deputy group head, Hearst Business Media, which leads Hearst's healthcare businesses, including First Databank (FDB), Zynx Health, MCG (formerly Milliman Care Guidelines) and Map of Medicine.
Dr. Graham succeeds Dr. Charles Tuchinda, who assumed the role of executive vice president of FDB in February.
In his new role, Graham will lead innovation strategies for Hearst's growing portfolio of healthcare companies, creating new technology and content-enabled solutions to improve patient outcomes and drive efficiency. He will support innovation projects developed internally, as well as the incubation of ideas and products in collaboration with outside clinician-entrepreneurs. Graham will be based in South San Francisco.
Prior to joining Hearst, Graham was chief medical information officer at NorthBay Healthcare in Fairfield, Calif., since 2009. There, he led initiatives related to clinical information systems in use at NorthBay's hospitals and outpatient clinics, developing new ways to use electronic health record systems to support high-quality healthcare. He also implemented the agile development methodology to optimize and improve NorthBay's healthcare IT processes.
