PRE and AAAS launch new survey aimed at safeguarding and advancing the integrity of scholarly peer review -

In preparation for the Peer Review Week, scheduled for September 19 – 25, the Peer Review Evaluation (PRE) and the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS) are teaming up to collect some new, useful data from the community.

PRE's aim with this study is to turn perception into practical action. Before creating the survey, the PRE team pored over all of the peer review surveys and focus groups that have been conducted over the last five years, and tried to dig a bit deeper. For example, a Wiley survey from earlier this year revealed that 77% of researchers are interested in peer review training. This was an important finding. But what should this training consist of? How should it be delivered? Who should pay the cost for training? This new survey is designed to try to answer questions like these. Data from this survey will be used to highlight key issues surrounding the perception of peer review among authors, editors, and readers – including how peer review is communicated, and how reviewers are trained and supported.

Results of this survey will be shared publicly via both AAAS and PRE during the Peer Review Week. The survey is available at https://survey.eu.qualtrics.com/SE/?SID=SV_3F7ae4eI9inAN9P&Source=ARIES.
