Global academic publisher Emerald Group Publishing, UK, has appointed Professor Theo Gavrielides as the new Editor for the international peer-reviewed journal, Ethnicity and Inequalities in Health and Social Care (EIHSC).
Professor Gavrielides' expertise as the Founder and Director of the international think-tank, Independent Academic Research Studies (IARS), is a welcome addition to the journal, which is now in its seventh year of publication. He is also the Co-Director of the Restorative Justice for All Institute and a Visiting Professor in Buckinghamshire New University, UK and Simon Fraser University, Canada.
The journal reportedly will retain its unique practical approach to promoting equality, inclusion and human rights in health and social care and is seeking submissions of research and practice-focused articles and case studies. It also explores what is currently known about discrimination and disadvantage with a particular focus on health and social care. It also pushes the barriers of the equality discourse by identifying new avenues for practice and policy.
The journal is said to create bridges between policymakers, practitioners and researchers; and also identify and understand the social determinants of health equity and practical interventions to overcome barriers.
