American Library Association appoints Christopher Murphy as Publisher for ALA Editions -

Christopher Murphy has joined the American Library Association (ALA) as the Publisher for ALA Editions. Chris will be responsible for managing the acquisitions, production, marketing and sales functions of the book publishing imprint of ALA's Publishing Department. ALA Editions includes the MLIS textbook line, ALA Neal-Schuman. He will report to Don Chatham, Associate Executive Director and Head of the Publishing Department.

Chris comes to the position with extensive senior leadership experience in editorial, production and marketing positions at not-for-profit organizations, most recently with the Association of International Educators (NAFSA), where he was Senior Director, Publications and Communications. Chris brings close to 30 years' experience in publishing positions at not-for-profit organisations.

ALA Editions publishes resources used worldwide by library and information professionals and MLIS professors and students to improve programs, build on best practices, develop leadership, and support personal professional development. ALA authors and developers are leaders in their fields and their content is published in a growing range of print and electronic formats. All proceeds from sales of ALA Editions products go to the American Library Association to support its goals and initiatives.
