NINR appoints three new members to the National Advisory Council for Nursing Research -

The National Institute of Nursing Research (NINR) has announced the appointment of three new members to the National Advisory Council for Nursing Research (NACNR), the institute's principal advisory board. Members of the council are drawn from the scientific and lay communities, embodying a diverse perspective from the fields of nursing, public and health policy, law, and economics. NINR, a component of the National Institutes of Health, is the primary federal agency for the support of nursing research.

The three new members of NACNR are James Corbett, J.D., M.Div., Senior Vice President of community health and values integration at Centura Health, a multi-state integrated health system and Colorado's largest health care provider; Nancy Redeker, Ph.D., R.N., Professor and Director of the Biobehavioral Laboratory at Yale University School of Nursing, Orange, Connecticut; and Meredeth A. Rowe, Ph.D., R.N., Professor and Lewis and Leona Hughes Endowed Chair for Nursing Science at the University of South Florida College of Nursing, Tampa.

The NACNR meets three times a year on the NIH campus to provide recommendations on the direction and support of the research that forms the evidence base for nursing practice. An important role of the council is to conduct the second level review of grant applications that have been scored by scientific review groups. In addition, the council reviews the institute's extramural programmes and makes recommendations about its intramural research activities.
