Pontificia Universidad Javeriana Cali becomes first library in Colombia to use OCLC WorldCat Discovery -

Global library co-operative OCLC has announced that the Pontificia Universidad Javeriana Cali, recognised for its high quality education by the National Accreditation Agency and Ministry of National Education, has become the first library in Colombia to use OCLC WorldCat Discovery services.

WorldCat Discovery helps people find and get resources from their local library and libraries worldwide through a single search of WorldCat and thousands of e-content collections.

Through WorldCat Discovery, users can locate the resources they need in libraries' electronic, digital and physical collections, including materials from major publishers and content partners around the world. Once searchers identify the items they need, WorldCat Discovery helps them get those items in their local library, via direct links to online full text, loans from other libraries or purchases from content providers.

PUJC decided to brand its instance of WorldCat Discovery to be called ‘Aquarium,’ because, according to the university, it represents an opportunity to see into an ecosystem where different entities interact.

WorldCat Discovery also makes library collections visible on websites where people typically start their research. ‘Find in a Library’ links on more than 50 popular websites direct users to WorldCat.org, where searchers can click through to library websites. A mobile-ready interface that adapts automatically to user devices makes resources available wherever and whenever users want them.
