STM publisher Elsevier, Netherlands, has announced the launch of a Simplified Chinese user interface to Scopus, the largest abstract and citation database of peer-reviewed literature. The interface enables Chinese users to search and discover scientific literature in their local language.
In addition to the localised interface, all Scopus help files have been translated into Simplified Chinese to ease product understanding amongst users. Customers in mainland China are now able to find the research information they are looking for more efficiently and to expand beyond Scopus' basic search functionalities to utilise more advanced features such as alerts, the Journal Analyzer and the Analyze Results functionality. For librarians in China, the localised interface will improve both their ability to train users on Scopus and the usability of Scopus.
According to Christopher Yeow Tze Yian, Elsevier's Science & Technology Research Solutions Sales Director for China mainland, Hong Kong and Macao, this local-language interface will help Chinese users accelerate the pace of their research, conduct analysis and determine their research strategy in a more efficient and effective way. Similarly, the Simplified Chinese interface supports researchers to efficiently gain information critical to developing their academic careers.
