EBSCO Information Services (EBSCO) has announced that the Open University of Cyprus (OUC) has selected the EBSCO Discovery Service™ (EDS), the discovery solution from EBSCO. EBSCO was able to deliver the service and support the university was looking for as well as provide unique customisation options and a fully integrated solution.
Open University of Cyprus wanted a tailored discovery experience to meet the needs of their end users. They had tried two other discovery services but neither proved to be the right fit for them. According to Panagiotis Themistocleous Information Systems Librarian at OUC, EDS provided the support and scope to resolve and meet the University's unique needs. They made implementation easy and were able to seamlessly include OUC's Institutional Repository. The library was also impressed with the fully integrated functionality of EDS.
Additionally, the library was looking for a solution that supported the Greek Language characters properly. Many of the OUC users have been very satisfied with the ability to set their search interface in Greek and have taken advantage of customizing their personal preferences. Other customization features the library plans to utilize in the near future include integrating the popular widget 'Ask-A-Librarian' as well as adding their institution's colours.
EBSCO Discovery Service creates a unified, customized index of an institution's information resources, and an easy, yet powerful means of accessing all of that content from a single search box-searching made even more powerful because of the quality of its relevance and value ranking technology.
