STM publisher Springer has announced the launch of a new book series entitled Neuroscience and Respiration, a subseries of Springer's renowned Advances in Experimental Medicine and Biology. The series will be edited by Dr. Mieczyslaw Pokorski of the Medical Research Center, Polish Academy of Sciences in Warsaw, Poland.
The series blends basic and clinical research to provide a timely review of the latest advances in the neuropathology of respiratory-related disorders, and the practical data-driven options to manage patients. Neuroscience and Respiration will also explore the mechanisms underlying neuropathologies, with expert contributions focusing on leading-edge concepts, methodologies and innovative treatments. Furthermore, the series attempts to translate biomolecular findings into clinical applications, with insights into a range of related disorders, including: respiratory muscle function; smoking; asthma and COPD; infections; respiratory bacteriology; autoimmune, metabolic and sleep disorders; allergies; and psychosocial issues.
Titles appearing in Neuroscience and Respiration will also be assembled in a novel way, in that chapters will be published online before each book is assembled. Once there are enough chapters to create a book, the chapters will be assembled into complete volumes. This approach is being used to make relevant research available as soon as it is available, instead of waiting until each book is complete. The series will also accept manuscript submissions from outside.
The first title in the series – Oxidative Stress and Cardiorespiratory Function – is expected in November 2014.
