Oxford University Press provides free access to Ebola resources to combat outbreak in West Africa -

Academic publisher Oxford University Press is offering free access to several resources across its online products and journals to researchers, healthcare workers, and policymakers in their search for effective treatment and prevention in the recent Ebola outbreak in West Africa. Over the next three months, relevant articles will be freely available to all those working at this critical juncture.

On 7 August, the World Health Organization declared an international public health emergency, and several countries have declared states of emergency. As of 19 August, the death toll is over 1,200, making it the deadliest Ebola outbreak since the discovery of the virus in 1976.

Quick and easy access to the latest research is crucial to contain the crisis and assist those in need. Fifty articles will remain free until November 25. A full list of free articles can be found on the Oxford University Press website including but not limited to articles from: Oxford Medicine Online, Journal of Infectious Diseases, Clinical Infectious Diseases, Journal of Antimicrobial Chemotherapy, Transactions of the Royal Society of Tropical Medicine & Hygiene, Journal of Tropical Pediatrics, Journal of Public Health, Health Policy and Planning.

Oxford University Press is also participating in the National Library of Medicine Emergency Access Initiative, which grants free access to books and journals to healthcare professionals and libraries affected by the disaster; and working with the World Health Organization (WHO) Library to provide free access to key online resources to WHO researchers and staff in the event of a Public Health Emergency of International Concern (PHEIC).

A full list of free articles can be found on the Oxford University Press website at http://www.oxfordjournals.org/en/our-journals/medicine-and-health/ebola.html.
