Numerous highlights awaited fair visitors on day two of the Frankfurt Book Fair 2016. Manuel Valls, Prime Minister of the French Republic, was one of the speakers at the press conference of the Guest of Honour 2017, France. In the early afternoon, Argentinean artist Marta Minujín laid the foundation for an art installation called "The Parthenon of Books", which she will present to the public at the documenta 14 in Kassel, Germany.
Richard Kobel, Vice President of Business Development for Scope e-Knowledge Center presented on 'Improving Discovery of Book Content' at the Professional & Scientific Information (Hall 4.2) Hot Spot stage. The Hot Spot session addressed the broad ecosystem contributing to book content discovery, including primary publishers, aggregators, discovery services, libraries, Google Scholar, as well as other market forces and usage trends that dictate a holistic yet more granular approach to the development and delivery of robust metadata for book content. The importance of cost effective, scalable solutions that produce contextually accurate and user friendly output was explored.
Also on Thursday, October 20, the Frankfurter Buchmesse and the International Information Content Industry Association (ICIA) will award the first Global Illustration Award. In addition to numerous events and award ceremonies, the special networking day "A Book is a Film is a Game" will take place, bringing the adaptation business into focus on the second day of the fair.
