ALPSP appoints Pippa Smart as Editor of Learned Publishing -

The Association of Learned and Professional Society Publishers (ALPSP) has announced the appointment of Pippa Smart as Editor of their journal Learned Publishing with immediate effect. Pippa has provided interim support since Alan Singleton stepped down in October in addition to her role as Book Reviews Editor.

Pippa has over 20 years' experience in research publishing and provides a range of services to publishers and editors throughout the world, including training and consultancy. She has held senior roles at INASP, Blackwell and CABI and is a Council member for the European Association of Science Editors.

Learned Publishing is the quarterly journal of the Association of Learned and Professional Society Publishers, published in collaboration with the Society for Scholarly Publishing. The journal is projected as an authoritative medium for the communication of research data, informed opinion and high-quality information on all aspects of academic and professional publishing for the international scholarly community. Its readers include both not-for-profit and commercial publishers worldwide and members of other professions involved with scholarly publishing - librarians, academic authors and teachers, and subscription agents - as well as other suppliers of services to scholarly publishers.

Pippa will be joined by the recently appointed North American Editor, Judy Luther from Informed Strategies, who has been selected by Learned Publishing partner SSP. Judy takes over from Diane Scott-Lichter who stepped down earlier in the year.
