APA to publish new interdisciplinary journal Motivation Science -

The American Psychological Association has announced that it will publish Motivation Science, a new interdisciplinary journal featuring significant contributions to the study of motivation. The journal will publish papers on diverse approaches to the science of motivation, including studies from all subfields of psychology, as well as the fields of cognitive science, economics, sociology, management science, organizational science, neuroscience and political science. The inaugural issue will become available this spring.

The journal will be edited by Dr. Deborah A. Prentice, a leading social psychologist. Prentice is the Alexander Stewart 1886 professor of psychology & public affairs and dean of the faculty at Princeton University. According to Prentice, the time is right for a new journal that is truly interdisciplinary in its scope. The new journal intends to be a catalyst for motivation science as a whole, Prentice notes.

Motivation Science is a publication of the Society for the Study of Motivation. The society's goals include providing a forum for the exchange of scientific information, fostering discussion of new ideas and findings on motivation among researchers and encouraging exchange and collaboration in research.

Articles published in the journal are also available through PsycARTICLES®, the most used full-text database in psychology and one of the most popular databases in all scholarly disciplines and fields. PsycARTICLES is available to a global audience of nearly 3,400 institutions and 60 million potential users.
