CENDI, NFAIS, Research Data Alliance/US (RDA/US) and the National Academies' Board on Research Data and Information will host a one-day conference on "The Internet of Things: Impacting Scientific Data and Information Flows," on December 9, 2016 in Washington, DC.
This event, held annually in the Nation's Capital, centers on how the Internet of Things (IoT) has evolved into a cyber-physical reality impacting a broad range of business sectors, especially information services and scholarly research.
With the IoT's significant potential to advance scholarly research and communication, speakers and attendees at this event will discuss: policies and standards relative to the IoT; case studies in a variety of disciplines; the impact of the IoT on different information services communities, such as libraries, publishers and data centers.
In addition, this event will also feature robust discussion on what the implications are for government agencies and information services relative to the IoT; how researchers will leverage the IoT to enable groundbreaking advances in their fields of study; and what role federal agency libraries are playing, in concert with their private sector partners, to take advantage of the IoT in fulfilling their public sector-focused missions.
The target audience for this event is anyone who has responsibility in the flow of scientific and technical data and information.
The one-day conference will be held at the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine, Keck Center, 500 Fifth Street, NW, Room 100, Washington, DC. Interested entities may visit http://bit.ly/2g16ten for registration details.
