Elsevier announces latest editions of two key virology titles, publishes seven additional virology and microbiology books -

STM publisher Elsevier has announced the publication of the latest editions of Fenner and White's Medical Virology by Drs. Christopher Burrell, Colin Howard and Frederick Murphy, and Fenner's Veterinary Virology by Drs. N. James MacLachlan and Edward Dubovi. These thoroughly revised books provide comprehensive coverage of viruses in humans and animals for students, researchers, educators, practitioners and public health officials. Elsevier also announced that it has published seven additional titles on virology and microbiology.

Fenner and White's Medical Virology, Fifth Edition offers an integrated view of related sciences, from cell biology, to human social behaviour to public health challenges. It features updated and expanded coverage of pathogenesis and immunity, and contains the latest laboratory diagnostic methods. This classic text includes insights into clinical features of human viral disease, vaccines, chemotherapy, epidemiology and control.

Fenner's Veterinary Virology, Fifth Edition features coverage on viral agents, viral diseases of animals, and newly emerging viral zoonotic diseases. It is an excellent resource for researchers and students alike, presenting the fundamental principles of virology, virus structure, genome replication, and viral diseases, while also focusing on the topics' clinical aspects.

The nine new virology and microbiology titles are: Fenner and White's Medical Virology, Fifth Edition by Christopher Burrell, Colin Howard and Frederick Murphy; Fenner's Veterinary Virology, Fifth Edition by N. James MacLachlan and Edward Dubovi; Statistical Aspects of the Microbiological Examination of Foods, Third Edition by Basil Jarvis; The Vaccine Book, Second Edition by Barry Bloom and Paul-Henri Lambert; Antiphospholipid Syndrome in Systemic Autoimmune Diseases, Second Edition by Ricard Cervera, Gerard Espinosa and Munther Khamashta; Viral Gastroenteritis: Molecular Epidemiology and Pathogenesis by Lennart Svensson, Ulrich Desselberger, Mary Estes and Harry Greenberg; Antibiotic Resistance: Mechanisms and New Antimicrobial Approaches by Kateryna Kon and Mahendra Rai; The Microbiology of Respiratory System Infections by Kateryna Kon and Mahendra Rai; and Human Vaccines: Emerging Technologies in Design and Development by Kayvon Modjarrad and Wayne Koff.

In order to meet content needs in virology and microbiology, Elsevier uses proprietary tools to identify the gaps in coverage of the topics. Editorial teams strategically fill those gaps with content written by key influencers in the field, giving students, faculty and researchers the content they need to answer challenging questions and improve outcomes. These new books, which will educate the next generation of virologists and microbiologists, and provide critical foundational content for information professionals, are key examples of how Elsevier is enabling science to drive innovation.
