The Open Research and Contributor ID (ORCID) has announced that Alice Meadows is joining ORCID as Communications Director and Douglas Wright as Membership Director, both starting in May. Alice and Doug will be supported through a grant to ORCID from the Helmsley Charitable Trust.
Alice will be responsible for ORCID communications, with a remit to broaden awareness and to support adoption and use of ORCID by the research community. She will be in charge of the initiative's Ambassadors program, ORCID publications and social media, and meetings calendar.
Doug will be leading the charge on building membership, with the ultimate goal of helping ORCID to become a truly financially sustainable organization. He will be managing a team of locally-based Regional Directors in Asia Pacific, Latin America, Europe, and the Middle East and Africa.
It is absolutely critical to meet with organizations to listen to their needs and discuss options for implementing ORCID. Together with their technical team, Alice and Doug will be rolling out workshops and training materials to leverage existing community collaborations and support a shared understanding of the role of persistent identifiers in successful research infrastructure projects.
