The Association of Research Libraries (ARL) has promoted Gary Roebuck to director of administration and operations, effective July 1, 2015. Roebuck has been with ARL since 2007, most recently as director of information technology. In his new role, he will oversee the day-to-day operations of ARL and will manage IT, fiscal, and human resources.

Prior to coming to ARL, Roebuck served as manager of development operations at the National Park Foundation. Earlier in his career, he held positions at Blackbaud as a fundraising systems consultant and at Chicago's Merit School of Music as director of operations.

The Association of Research Libraries is a nonprofit organisation of 124 research libraries in the US and Canada. ARL's mission is to influence the changing environment of scholarly communication and the public policies that affect research libraries and the diverse communities they serve. ARL pursues this mission by advancing the goals of its member research libraries, providing leadership in public and information policy to the scholarly and higher education communities, fostering the exchange of ideas and expertise, facilitating the emergence of new roles for research libraries, and shaping a future environment that leverages its interests with those of allied organisations.
