SSP 38th Annual Meeting theme revealed; opens call for participation -

The Society for Scholarly Publishing has announced that its 38th Annual Meeting is scheduled for June 1-3, 2016, at the Westin Bayshore in Vancouver, British Columbia. 'Crossing Boundaries: New Horizons in Scholarly Communication' has been revealed as the theme of the 38th Annual Meeting.

A Call for Participation has been opened for the event. Proposals for sessions will be accepted now through November 20. The organisers of the 24 sessions selected for the final program will be contacted in December to confirm their participation. Submissions can be made online here.

Proposals are encouraged from and for all types of stakeholders in scholarly communications, whether your institution is large or small, nonprofit or commercial, focused on books or journals, or specializing in STEM or the Humanities and Social Sciences. Sessions should foster open discussion and professional development at the conference. Proposals which include strong commercial messages to promote any one organization or service will not be considered for the program.

To go along with the 'Crossing Boundaries' theme, seven tracks have been proposed for the Annual Meeting including Globalization, Ethics, Business Strategy, Marketing/Product Development, People in Publishing, Technology, and Meet with the [Researcher/Librarian/Publisher/Funder]. Not all tracks may ultimately be included in the conference. Proposals should offer content that fits into these tracks but creative, non-thematic submissions are also welcome. The Annual Meeting Program Committee is especially interested in sessions that benefit attendees by providing case studies, tips on best practices, and thought-provoking ideas.
