STM publisher Elsevier has announced the launch of the next version of Pathway Studio Web, enabling researchers to more quickly understand the underlying biology of disease. This updated version of Pathway Studio Web is designed to be easier to use and is up to 30 times faster for common analysis tasks. These improvements are a direct result of customer feedback and market research and are designed to help researchers to quickly understand the complex underlying mechanisms of disease progression and response to treatments, while enabling the interactive visualisation of gene expression, proteomics and metabolomics data.
The new web interface is simpler, with reorganised menus and extensive online help, making it easier for new users to be productive quickly. The number of "clicks" required to carry out common analysis tasks have been reduced – in some cases by 60 percent or more – speeding and simplifying workflows. And, to help researchers comb through the massive quantities of literature and research data, additional interactive filters have been added, allowing users to simply select or deselect types of entities and interactions, and apply dynamic confidence filters based on the number of independent publications supporting any given relationship. Together, these features help users of Elsevier's Pathway Studio easily mine vast quantities of data to find the results relevant to their research, more easily and more quickly than any other solution.
New in this version is the interactive Network Builder wizard, which leads users easily through the process of creating new pathways. It includes powerful, easy-to-use filtering tools and shortcuts, designed to satisfy the needs of novice users while still maintaining advanced filter options for the power user. Updates are done in seconds, so users can see the exact results of their filtering and then export their results and pathways to Excel.
Users of Pathway Studio Web were automatically given access to the updated version from December 1, 2015. It is available for free as a server update to Pathway Studio Enterprise customers.
