Royal Society of Chemistry and the Max Planck Digital Library in Germany sign new ‘Read & Publish’ agreement -

The Royal Society of Chemistry has signed a new 'Read & Publish' agreement with the Max Planck Digital Library in Germany, under which corresponding authors from the Max Planck Institutes will be able to publish open access in all hybrid Royal Society of Chemistry journals. At the same time the agreement grants all Max Planck researchers access to all RSC journal content.

The agreement represents a move away from traditional subscription models, and will greatly reduce the administrative burden on the institution.

The agreement is the latest in a series of initiatives by the Royal Society of Chemistry to support the transition to open access in line with the Wellcome Trust's requirements, minimising the burden on authors who wish to publish open access, and on academic institutions such as Max Planck that want to promote open access or have an open access mandate.
