Research Solutions, Inc., a pioneer in providing cloud-based solutions for scientific research, has announced that its wholly-owned subsidiary Reprints Desk has hired Sharon Mattern Büttiker as Director of Content Management. Mattern will work on expanding Reprints Desk's publisher relations and content portfolio in support of the company's planned launch of new Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) product offerings later in 2017. Mattern's initial focus is on adding full-text content for improved search functionality within Reprints Desk's award-winning Article Galaxy research retrieval platform.
Well known within the STM publishing community, Mattern joins Reprints Desk following 18 years at S. Karger AG, where she was responsible for liaising between Karger's data partners and key online clients. At Karger, Mattern managed the presence of Karger content on partner web sites, improved discoverability of online content, and actively expanded the reach and revenue of Karger publications via the Internet. She also represented Karger on the Publishers' Rights & Licensing Group (PRLG), a forum for Publisher Permissions, Licensing, Intellectual Property, and Business Development Managers to discuss the challenges of the changing landscape of published content and formats.
An information professional dedicated to bridging the knowledge and communication gaps between scientific and medical markets on the one hand, and digital technology on the other, Mattern brings a unique skillset to Reprints Desk's full-text strategy aimed at enhancing content discoverability within the company's Article Galaxy solution.
