Medical knowledge provider BMJ has announced that more than 60 healthcare teams from across the UK have made it to the final judging stages for The BMJ Awards 2017. Now in its ninth year, The BMJ Awards is organised by The BMJ, one of the world's leading medical journals.
They include projects to improve the wellbeing of patients undergoing chemotherapy before surgery, addressing the problem of elective surgery cancellations, and confronting the issue of talking about Do Not Attempt Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (DNACPR) decisions with patients near the end of life.
The BMJ Awards are the UK's premier medical awards programme, recognising and celebrating the inspirational work done by doctors and their teams.
This year's awards attracted 290 entries across 14 categories, with three new categories: imaging, surgery, and mental health.
Next month, the shortlisted teams will present their projects to an expert judging panel, including patient representatives. The winners will be announced on May 4 at the Park Plaza Westminster Bridge, London.
