OpenAthens announces speakers for its 2019 conference -

Federated access management specialist OpenAthens has signed up top speakers for its 2019 conference entitled 'user centred by design'.

The one-day conference will see experts from across the digital media and publishing world share their expertise on user experience, consent and privacy, piracy and practical use of identity and access management.

Dan Ramsden, creative director for user experience architecture at the BBC, will deliver the keynote speech, sharing his experience and approach to designing with the user in mind. He will talk about how he combines user centered design and the theory and practice of information architecture to help make the BBC's tools, content and experiences more meaningful and connected.

Dan will be joined by Todd Carpenter, executive director at National Information Standards Organization (NISO), who will discuss what Resource Access for the 21st Century (RA21) has accomplished, and provide an update on what the future holds for the RA21 initiative. Todd will also demonstrate how the service will improve the user experience of access to subscribed resources.

Also speaking at the conference is plenary speaker Russell Palmer, assistant director for support services at GALILEO. Palmer will discuss best practice in balancing the demands of creating a smooth and easy user journey and facilitating access to relevant content with online security and protecting valuable content from abuse.

Cindy Slater, a senior training specialist at EBSCO, will present a case study on their work with the Clinical Knowledge Network (CKN) in Queensland, Australia.

The OpenAthens Conference brings together hundreds of international publishers and library professionals from a wide range of sectors including education and research, healthcare, government, charity, publishing, and commercial. It is relevant for anyone with an interest in identity and access management.

Potential attendees will have the opportunity to buy tickets at a reduced price on a special Black Friday sale taking place on November 23.
