Thomson Reuters has announced that Shawn Malhotra has been appointed Vice President of the new Thomson Reuters Toronto Technology Centre. In this role, Shawn will help drive the centre's focus on emerging skills such as cognitive computing, visualization, user experience and cloud development.
Located in Bremner Tower, the Toronto Technology Centre co-locates technology talent to drive productivity in these fields, while increasing flexibility and driving cross-enterprise innovation. Its proximity to large and strategic customers also enable rapid, customer-driven innovation, particularly in Toronto's fast growing fintech community. The centre is expected to place 400 high-quality technology jobs in Canada over the next two years, with plans to grow to approximately 1,500 jobs over time.
Shawn most recently served as Director, Software Engineering & Site Director for Intel's Technology Centre in Toronto, and had worked at Intel for over ten years in various engineering and management roles.
