BMJ appoints Dr. Declan Walsh as new editor in chief of BMJ Supportive & Palliative Care -

Medical knowledge provider BMJ has announced Dr. Declan Walsh, an internationally recognised medical oncologist and innovator, as the new editor in chief of BMJ Supportive & Palliative Care.

Dr Walsh joined BMJ Supportive & Palliative Care in January 2017 and will lead the journal, including its editorial board of top experts, to produce high quality content across many disciplines and specialties in supportive and palliative care.

Published quarterly in print and continuously online, BMJ Supportive & Palliative Care is the official journal of the Association for Palliative Medicine, Australian & New Zealand Society of Palliative Medicine, and Hospice UK. The journal aims to connect many disciplines and specialties throughout the world by providing high quality, clinically relevant research, reviews, comment, information and news. It is one of the 60 specialist journals published by BMJ.

Presently, Dr Walsh is Chair of Supportive Oncology at the Levine Cancer Institute, United States. Previously, Dr Walsh held a joint Chair as the Fottrell Professor of Palliative Medicine at Trinity and University Colleges Dublin.

As a pioneer in palliative medicine, Dr Walsh developed the first palliative care program in the United States in 1987. Dr Walsh is an elected Fellow of the American College of Physicians, the Royal College of Physicians in both Edinburgh and London, and Trinity College Dublin.
