ASTM International has published the first papers in its new online journal - Smart and Sustainable Manufacturing Systems. Access to papers during the journal's inaugural year is free.
Dr. Sudarsan Rachuri, federal program manager for the Clean Energy Smart Manufacturing Innovation Institute at the U.S. Department of Energy, serves as the editor-in-chief of the journal.
The journal fosters transdisciplinary research and industrial technologies that cross the boundaries of information science, systems engineering and engineering design, manufacturing, product life-cycle, and emerging data science. This journal provides a platform for researchers and practitioners from these disciplines to share research results, practical industry applications, and case studies.
According to Rachuri, a key goal of the journal is to support collaboration among academia, industry, government labs, and nonprofit organisations to support research and technology development in smart and sustainable manufacturing.
More than 50 top global experts serve as the journal's associate editors, editorial board members, and advisory board members.
