Ex Libris, a ProQuest company, has announced that the University of California, Santa Barbara (UCSB), has selected the Ex Libris Alma® library management service and Primo® discovery and delivery solution to manage and expose the library's increasingly diverse collections and to deliver a streamlined user experience.
UCSB Library sought a mature, stable web-based system that enables the library staff to manage e‑resources and metadata effectively, provides strong support for data curation activities, and operates well with external systems.
As a flexible, powerful, and integrated service platform, the combination of Alma and Primo will increase efficiency; facilitate collaboration among different university roles; encourage innovation in library operations as well as in academic scholarship; and provide the means for improving library processes. The adoption of Primo by UCSB will offer local researchers considerable added value through unified access to both print resources and online licensed content through a sophisticated discovery system.
Using the robust analytics capabilities offered by Alma and Primo, UC Santa Barbara Library will be better able to demonstrate its value for academic outcomes. In addition, the resource usage and cost data generated by Alma will help the librarians make actionable curating decisions that will be aligned with the users’ needs, thus maximizing the use of the collection budget.
