The Association of Research Libraries (ARL) is offering a series of free webcasts that present the findings from the latest SPEC surveys and allow webcast participants to discuss trends with the survey authors. A 45-minute webcast will follow the publication of each SPEC Kit in 2017.
The next webcast in this series will cover the Data Curation survey (SPEC Kit 354). This survey explores the infrastructure that ARL member institutions are using for the active and ongoing management of data through its life cycle of interest and usefulness to scholarly and educational activities.
The Data Curation webcast will review survey findings reported by ARL member libraries in January 2017. The survey authors will provide a snapshot of data curation activities underway at ARL member libraries, with particular attention to specific data-repository technologies and standards; show examples of ARL member libraries' data curation services and resources; and review themes from survey respondent comments.
The webcast will also include a discussion of promising trends and conclude with a question-and-answer session.
The webcast, scheduled for June 14, 2017 from 1:00–1:45 p.m. eastern daylight time, will be presented by Cynthia Hudson-Vitale, Washington University in St. Louis Libraries; Heidi Imker, University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign; Lisa R. Johnston, University of Minnesota Twin Cities Libraries; Jake Carlson, University of Michigan Library; Wendy Kozlowski, Cornell University; Robert Olendorf, Pennsylvania State University; and Claire Stewart, University of Minnesota. Online registrations are due by June 7, 2017.
