University of Genoa selects Ex Libris Alma Service to unify management of resources -

Ex Libris®, a ProQuest company, has announced that Italy's University of Genoa (Università degli Studi di Genova) has opted to migrate to the Ex Libris Alma® library management service to help meet the increasing demand for electronic resources. Integrated with the university's Primo discovery and delivery solution, including the Primo Central Index, the Alma service will enable the library team to benefit from unified, streamlined workflows.

A long-term Ex Libris Aleph® customer, the university library found that the type of resources that users seek has undergone a significant change in the past few years. As a result, the university library system has had to adapt to new processes for acquiring and managing electronic resources in addition to managing extensive print collections.

The move to Alma will give the university a unified resource management solution that will enable the staff to take advantage of enhanced workflows for acquiring and managing electronic resources. The librarians will also be using the Alma Community Zone to collaborate on the cataloging, acquisition, and management of resources. The resulting time that is saved on day-to-day tasks will provide more opportunities for the library to deliver teaching, learning, and visitor support services.
