The American Psychological Association has appointed George Kowal as senior director, sales and customer support, responsible for sales performance across products and markets for APA's nearly $100 million publishing organisation.
He assumes the new post on July 10.
APA's sales and customer support team oversees all customer relations and contract management for APA's online solutions, including PsycINFO, the discovery platform for the psychological sciences. APA's sales and customer support organisation is currently focused on rolling out APA Style CENTRAL. Launched in 2016, APA Style CENTRAL is an award-winning online platform that helps educators improve the writing and research skills of undergraduate students.
Kowal spent the last 12 years with Thomson Reuters, now Clarivate Analytics, most recently as head of researcher solutions. During his tenure, he oversaw and substantially grew the customer base for the company's global publishing and association business, which included the ScholarOne peer review platforms. Prior to that, Kowal ran advertising sales for The Scientist, the 2008 and 2009 American Society of Business Publication Editors Magazine of the Year for the life science community. Kowal also served in various sales and customer service roles at TMP Worldwide, Pindar and Verizon.
