Ex Libris®, a ProQuest company, has announced that the Bibliothèque Interuniversitaire de Montpellier (BIU, or Interuniversity Library of Montpellier) has chosen the Ex Libris Alma® library services platform and the Primo® discovery and delivery solution to optimise library management and discovery. Alma and Primo will replace the Aleph® integrated library system.
The BIU will be leveraging the tight integration between Alma and Primo to facilitate the management of the library's growing catalogue of electronic resources. The resulting streamlined workflows and enhanced discoverability will benefit patrons and librarians from the Université Paul Valéry Montpellier 3 and the Université de Montpellier as well as users from the Université de Nîmes, the École Nationale Supérieure de Chimie de Montpellier, and the Institut Protestant de Théologie (Faculté de Montpellier), whose library systems are managed by the BIU.
Located in the south of France near the Mediterranean Sea, the Bibliothèque Interuniversitaire de Montpellier is a network of 14 university libraries and associated libraries serving the entire academic community and supporting all disciplines taught at the universities of Montpellier to more than 65,000 students by 6,000 staff members. Library services include access to a collection of 1.5 million books and a vast range of electronic and digital resources.
