Ex Libris®, a ProQuest company, has announced that the Virginia's Community Colleges (VCCS) has chosen the Ex Libris Alma® library services platform and will integrate it with its statewide implementation of the Ex Libris Primo® discovery and delivery solution. Alma will replace the Ex Libris Aleph® integrated library system.
The libraries of the nearly two dozen community colleges that constitute the VCCS will have the time-saving benefit of centralised acquisitions and collaborative decision-making. According to Tara Cassidy, VCCS Director of Library Services, the new library system will enable their staff to focus on supporting teaching and learning rather than dealing with siloed systems and ad hoc manual processes. The ability to quickly generate meaningful reports will inform decision-making for library operations, purchases, and collection analysis in a consistent way.
With Alma, VCCS will also be able to make full use of the significant investment in electronic resources, effectively manage assets, and support emergent and increasingly complex e-resource licensing and access models.
