67 Bricks has announced the launch of Knowledge Base, a new editorial production system for publishing client BMJ Best Practice.
The custom-built new system pulls together information and advice on 800 medical conditions in 30 specialist areas and enables clinicians to access and use that information quickly and effectively at point of care. The new Knowledge Base not only allows BMJ to update and maintain their content effectively but has also opened the door for future product innovation.
BMJ wanted to innovate their product in line with clinicians' needs, but the content was being created, stored and presented in ways that made this difficult. BMJ therefore took a strategic decision to build a completely new editorial production system, and crucially, to change the underlying data structure of the content. This was a large scale project with a limited timescale and hence careful planning was essential.
