Medical and scientific publishing company Karger Publishers has appointed Professor Daniela Finke as a new member of its Board of Directors.
Since 2010 Daniela Finke has been professor at the Universitäts-Kinderspital beider Basel (UKBB). As a member of the Executive Board and Director of Research at the UKBB, she has established new scientific talent programs, study centers, and Young Investigators groups. She is also a teacher and researcher at the Biomedical Department (DBM) of the University of Basel. In her work she connects the disciplines of immunology, developmental biology and biomedicine, and she also knows how to impart them: in her role as a lecturer she has won several prizes. As a member of the Committee 'Nachwuchsfond' of the University of Basel she supports young researchers. In addition, she is a member of the Executive Board of the Biomedical Department. As a member of the Board and the Scientific Committee of the Professor Max Cloëtta Foundation she promotes the medical research funding in Switzerland.
Gabriella Karger was appointed Chairwoman of the Board of Directors at Karger Publishers in early August this year. She takes over from Thomas Karger who steps down from the operational business activities after 67 years in the scientific publishing industry. Gabriella Karger will keep her role as a publisher and will in particular focus on the developments and challenges in the digital area.
