The American Chemical Society (ACS) Division of Publications has named Dr. Lynne S. Taylor of the Purdue University College of Pharmacy as the next editor-in-chief of Molecular Pharmaceutics. The journal is the Society’s high-impact publication for original research that contributes significantly to the molecular mechanistic understanding of drug delivery and drug-delivery systems. Taylor will succeed Dr. Gordon L. Amidon of the University of Michigan College of Pharmacy in early 2019. Amidon has served as the journal's editor-in-chief since its inception in 2003.
Taylor joined the faculty of Purdue University in the department of industrial and physical pharmacy in 2003, where she currently serves as a Retter professor of pharmacy. Her research focuses on enhancing drug delivery through optimising and understanding the physicochemical properties of drugs and excipients - in particular, amorphous solid dispersions used to improve oral delivery of water-soluble drugs.
Molecular Pharmaceutics publishes theoretical and experimental peer-reviewed communications, full-length research papers, brief articles, and critical reviews in all areas of drug discovery and development. With a 2017 Impact Factor of 4.556, the journal is among the most-cited in the field. Taylor currently serves as an editorial advisory board member for the journal, and has published over 40 papers in Molecular Pharmaceutics. She has also been an author and reviewer for several other prominent ACS journals, including the Journal of the American Chemical Society, Journal of Physical Chemistry and Analytical Chemistry.
