Wolters Kluwer Voice Tech and Data Science experts to discuss AI’s impact on clinical outcomes when coupled with VUI and Clinical Surveillance at HIMSS19 -

Nearly half (48%) of healthcare organisations recently surveyed by Health Data Management rank deploying strategies for artificial intelligence (AI) and advanced analytics technologies as very or extremely important. At HIMSS19, AI has emerged as one of this year's dominant themes and several experts from Wolters Kluwer, Health will be leading this discussion, helping conference attendees gain a deeper understanding of the powerful role AI can play in improving clinical outcomes and patient safety when combined with surveillance and voice technologies. HIMSS19 takes place February 11-15 at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando, Florida.

On February 12 at 5 p.m. EST, Wolters Kluwer, Health's Director of Applied Data Science, Dr. John Langton, will present 'Predictive Clinical Surveillance with AI,' examining how real-time surveillance of rapidly deteriorating conditions is key to impacting quality and cost of care. The presentation will focus on how the combination of Machine Learning, Natural Language Processing (NLP) and clinical knowledge enable predictive and prescriptive decision support at the point of care.

On February 13 at 10:30 a.m., Shara Cohen, JD, Vice President of Customer Experience for Clinical Effectiveness at Wolters Kluwer, Health, will present 'Extending Patient Care though Voice Tech & AI,' which demonstrates how voice technology (or VUI for voice user interface) supported by AI and advanced analytics gives hospitals the ability to move the needle on patient engagement. Cohen will also share examples of how leading health institutions are using advanced solutions to help patients manage their recovery post-discharge.

Cohen will also discuss insights related to voice and AI in a panel discussion on February 14, at 11:30 a.m. titled 'How Voice Assistants Are Reshaping Healthcare' and moderated by Dr. Teri Fischer, host of the Voice First Health podcast. Cohen joins panelists from Brigham & Women's, Macadamian, Mayo Clinic and Orbita, Inc. This panel will discuss how voice-first technology is already starting to disrupt healthcare delivery in multiple locations—from the patient's home to the clinic, from the emergency room to the operating room. Panelists will also examine the role of voice in the patient's care journey-from reducing anxiety before a procedure to voice-assisted monitoring during recovery at home, to assisting with care for rising-risk populations.

All three events take place at the Intelligent Health Pavilion, located in Hall E, Booth 8559.
