OCLC Research has announced that it will have a strong presence at the 2019 LD4 Conference on Linked Data in Libraries. The conference, scheduled to be held from May 10-11, in Boston at Harvard Medical School, will focus on next steps toward larger-scale production of linked data, and how the library community can learn from and contribute to other communities who are working toward similar goals.
Several OCLC Research program officers and researcher scientists will attend and lead sessions at LD4. Senior Manager Merrilee Proffitt serves on the program committee.
Proffitt will also facilitate two sessions: ‘Wikidata in Action’ and ‘Technical Focus: Projects and Development.’ As part of ‘Wikidata in Action,’ Senior Program Officer Karen Smith-Yoshimura will present on ’Taking Advantage of Multilingualism Support in Wikidata.’
During the ’Technical Focus: Projects and Development’ session, Executive Director for Technical Research Andrew Pace will give the lightning talk ’Ideation to Prototype,’ and Senior Product Manager John Chapman and Senior Research Scientist Jean Godby will present on What are the ‘entities that matter’ to this object? Reflections on the OCLC Linked Data Wikibase Pilot.
In addition, Pace will facilitate the ’Community Adoption’ session and Principal Engineer Bruce Washburn will give a lighting talk on the UI created as part of the Wikibase pilot.
